At Allen Avenue Elementary, we believe that every student can succeed when they are supported by a positive school culture built on respect, responsibility, and belonging. To help create this environment, our staff collaborated to develop Eagles SOAR, a schoolwide framework that defines the values and behaviors we expect from every member of our school community.
SOAR stands for:

These four principles serve as the foundation of our school culture and guide students in their interactions, decision-making, learning, and personal growth. Eagles SOAR provides a common language that helps students understand what it means to be a positive member of our school community, both inside and outside the classroom.
Why Eagles SOAR Matters
Eagles SOAR is more than a set of expectations. It represents our commitment to developing students who are not only academically successful, but also kind, responsible, resilient, and respectful individuals. By teaching and reinforcing these values consistently, we help students build the social-emotional and character skills they need to thrive in school and beyond.
How Eagles SOAR Is Reinforced
The SOAR expectations are intentionally taught, modeled, practiced, and celebrated throughout the school year. Students learn what each expectation looks and sounds like in various settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, hallways, assemblies, and the cafeteria.
Staff members reinforce SOAR by:
- Teaching expectations directly and providing ongoing reminders
- Modeling SOAR behaviors in everyday interactions
- Incorporating SOAR language into daily classroom routines
- Using restorative conversations and reflection opportunities when challenges arise
- Highlighting positive examples during schoolwide events and announcements
Students who demonstrate the SOAR values may receive SOAR Slips from any staff member. These recognition slips celebrate students who are showing kindness and respect, making responsible choices, actively engaging in learning, or persevering through challenges.
To further recognize and celebrate positive behavior, all SOAR Slips are entered into a weekly schoolwide raffle. Every week, students have the opportunity to be selected for special prizes and recognition. This program helps reinforce positive behaviors while creating excitement around living our school values each day.

One of the most meaningful aspects of Eagles SOAR is that it was developed collaboratively by Allen Avenue Elementary staff. Because Eagles SOAR was created by the people who work with our students every day, it reflects our shared commitment to fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child can flourish.
Through Eagles SOAR, we are building a culture where positive character, strong relationships, and academic success take flight together.
